Aspen Mountain Will Reopen for Memorial Day Weekend Skiing
With nearly four feet of snow falling in the past month, Aspen Skiing Co. officials announced today that Aspen Mountain would reopen for skiing this Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-27. The top of Aspen Mountain–roughly 90 acres and 16 runs–will open for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy. Riders can upload on the Silver Queen Gondola and access the top of the mountain via Ajax Express.
“We’ve received nearly four feet of snow since Aspen Mountain closed,” says Rich Burkley, vice president of mountain operations, Aspen Skiing Company. “In fact, it’s snowing at the top of Aspen Mountain right now. If it won’t quit snowing we shouldn’t quit skiing.”
Skiing/riding tickets will be $36 per day for ages 13 and up. Children’s (age 4-12) tickets will be $18. The National Weather Society is calling for temperatures to reach the high 60s this weekend, so sun-drenched spring-to-summer skiing is in order.
