The Act Dubai has officially opened as the world’s highest theater club. Located at the Shangri-La Hotel just off Sheikh Zayed Road, Simon Hammerstein, visionary creator of The Act Las Vegas hosted a glittering launch which included the presence of celebrities such as Jude Law.
As guests crossed the red carpet they were escorted to a lift which opened up to the multi-level club located on the 42nd and 43rd floors. With a wonderful vintage looking interior, I felt as if I had walked in to a theater in Covent Garden – that is, until I approached the bar and dance floor.
The Act Dubai is not (and cannot be) as risqué as Hammerstein’s controversial Box in London and New York. However, the scene before you will definitely provide you with much to talk about. The international acts are flown in from around the world including Germany, the USA, the UK and Italy to perform exclusively at the venue. Each night you will be able to watch a number of acts which may involve anything from singing, dancing to even sword throwing.
Alongside each act guests can enjoy an extensive Peruvian food menu with signature dishes including Camarones Con Maracuya, Crispy Quinoa Coated Prawns with Passion Fruit Rocoto in addition to Parrilla de Mariscos, a grilled seasonal seafood dish with spices from the Peruvian Sierra. The Act Dubai has also developed a specialty cocktail menu using Pisco, the traditional spirit distilled from Peruvian grapes.
The Act Dubai is open every Thursday, 9.30pm – 3am. It is located on the 42nd floor of the Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai. For reservations please call +971 528119900.
