Aspen and Snowmass Mountains Set to Close This Weekend
The snow’s still falling in the Roaring Fork Valley, but both Aspen and Snowmass Mountain will shut down operations this Sunday, April 14 as scheduled. Aspen Highlands will stay open another week, closing April 21. Buttermilk Mountain closed last Sunday.
Closing weekends in the Aspen/Snowmass area are always a party, and this weekend is no different. Catch the 6th annual Schneetag on Sunday, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Snowmass Mountain. Teams of four develop a skit and construct a craft that will hopefully transport them downhill and across a 20-by-30 foot pond. Winners get GoPros, concert tickets and Smith goggles, and everyone in the audience gets a good laugh.
At Aspen Mountain, expect a dance party at the base, with DJ Dylan on Saturday, and DJ Naka G on Sunday.
