DVF Mixing Prints and Colors at Fashion Week
No one knows more about mixing prints with bold colors than the Queen of pret-a-porter, Diane Von Furstenberg. For fall 2013 DVF showed us that life really is a party, combining a dark color palette with animal print for a look that truly tells the world you’re out for the night. Von Furstenberg opened the show revisiting the roots she created 41 years ago, with a printed wrap dress. Not only was the opening look a reference to days past, but the entire collection was actually inspired by a young David Bowie and Diane Von Furstenberg herself. This inspiration was not lost in translation, show attendee Mickey Boardman of Paper Magazine even went so far as to say “It’s the most DVF, DVF collection I’ve seen in a long time. Yes, this season DVF indeed took us back to what she is really known for and the reason she’s a woman’s best friend every time her closet is opened. After all who else can do her iconic pieces like the wrap dress, metallic pant, or chiffon gown better than DVF herself?
