NYC Gets Its First Country Music Radio Station in 17 Years
Hold on to your Stetson! Country music has returned to New York City radio for the first time in 17 years.
Cumulus Media recently introduced “Nash 94.7” on WRXP at 94.7 FM, tagging it “Country for Life.” The first country song played on the new station was “How Country Feels” by Randy Houser, followed by Alan Jackson‘s “She’s Gone Country.”
The station’s website promises listeners that it is “dedicated to bringing you the best, newest and most exciting country artists on the planet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”
NYC has had a number of country stations over the years featuring popular hosts such as Donna Hanover, Jim Kerr and Dan Daniel. WYNY was the last station to play country in the city, but it was the victim of a format switch in 1996.
