Beverly Hills’ Greystone Mansion Hosts the World Grand Unveiling Of Leonardo da Vinci’s “Horse and Rider” Sculpture
An original bronze sculpture cast from the latex mold of a Leonardo da Vinci beeswax sculpture made its debut on Monday night at Beverly Hills’ Greystone Mansion.
The figure, which was authenticated in 1985, has never before been seen.
Greystone was the first stop for “Horse and Rider”, which will make a global tour to include such cities as London, New York and Las Vegas.
“Horse and Rider” is the sculpture of a Renaissance figure in military gear which da Vinci made for his friend and benefactor, French military governor Charles d’Amboise. It is more than 500 years old.
Reproductions of the bronze statue were available at the haute event in four different patinas, and cost anywhere from $25,000 to $35,000.
