Haute Event: Yellow Ostrich Plays the BLVD Social Club

Yellow Ostrich treated the audience at BLVD Social Club — Thursdays Live at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas to the band’s indie rock style, playing songs such as “Hold On,” “Bread” and “Elephant King” on Thursday night.

The group consists of singer-guitarist Alex Schaaf, multi-instrumentalist Jon Natchez and drummer Michael Tapper. Yellow Ostrich is currently signed with Barsuk Records, a label that has helped catapult bands such as Death Cab for Cutie and Ra Ra Riot to success. The trio released its fourth studio album, Strange Lands, in March of this year but have gained popularity from The Morgan Freeman EP, an album inspired by the actor’s Wikipedia page.

Next up at BLVD Social Club — Thursdays Live is Fun. on Thursday, Aug. 16, and Polica on Thursday, Aug. 23.
