Bagatelle, Champagne-Soaked Brunches, Return to the Meatpacking District Next Week

Just over four years after pioneering the antic “champagne brunch” trend in New York, French restaurant-lounge Bagatelle is returning to the Meatpacking District. The venue reopens on Monday, June 11 at One Little West 12th Street. Bagatelle 1.0 closed in March of last year after owners Remi Laba and Aymeric Clemente split with their partners.

Although Bagatelle always offered a full menu of traditional bistro food, it gained notoriety for its raucous weekend brunch parties, which purported to transport a St. Tropez vibe to the Meatpacking District with sparkler-festooned magnums of Bertaud Belieu rosé bubbly and booming club music. The model was recreated in eateries all over town, including the once-stodgy Oak Room at the Plaza Hotel. The reboot includes brunch and dinner menus, while its website touts opportunities for private and VIP parties.
