The trendy gastropub in downtown Los Angeles hosted an afternoon class of Tequila tasting and traditional Mexican cuisine led by Public School 612’s beverage expert, Patrick Thomas, and chef Danta Ascenzi.
An intimate group of Cinco de Mayo celebrants were treated to a four-course food and drink tasting that included Campechana with tostada, lengua gordita, Al Pastor spare ribs and tres leches cake paired with the smooth stylings of Anejo and Mezcal tequilas.
Thomas talked about the difference between Mezcals and tequilas, as well as the backstory behind each of the four tequilas that were served.
The class is part of the restaurant’s educational series on the art of food and drink, which pairs gourmet creations with special cocktails. Classes are held every 6-8 weeks for food and beverage enthusiasts. The next lesson will be on Tikki cocktails in late June.
