The sale price is even more spectacular when taken into consideration that Delon’s Royal Oak Jumbo doesn’t have the dial with the AP logo at 6 o’clock, which the new Jumbo does have. The auctioneers webite also didn’t mention whether the vintage timepiece is an A-series for one of the later B, C or D-series.
Last month, a sought-after A-series with 6 o’clock dial from 1972 sold for the absolute record price of €31,200—that is, until Delon’s watch came along.
