
Moscow’s Red Square is a prime piece of Russian real estate, and since the razing of the 3,000-room Soviet Era Hotel Rossiya in 2006, several ideas have been thrown around one what to do with the space, including a a hotel, office, retail spaces and an administrative center that could contain a new parliament building and government headquarters in the future. However, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin proposed creating a park zone instead. If Putin gets his way, it will be the largest park in central Moscow. A few hours after Putin’s proposal, Moscow authorities said they would announce a competition next week seeking bids to develop the site as a park.
