Alexander McQueen Launches Made-For-Measure Luxury Menswear

The celebrated British fashion house Alexander McQueen has partnered with prestigious tailor Huntsman for the launch of a menswear made-to-measure service.

The launch is scheduled for June at the McQueen store on Bond Street in London, and pieces will take about 12 weeks. The costs start at about £4,500 (€5,400 and almost $7,000). Customers can choose from single-breasted dinner jacket, a black cashmere double-breasted overcoat and a black-and-white Prince of Wales check suit.

The luxury men’s market has been growing at a rate almost double than that of women, according to global consultants Bain & Co. In light of that information, creative director Sarah Burton, who designed Kate Middleton’s (now the Duchess of Cambridge) wedding dress, highlighted the demand for men’s high fashion.

“We already offer couture for women, and wanted to add it for men. And our clients were asking for it. With this service we want to give them beautiful, handcrafted clothes, and emphasize artisanal work,” she said.

Back in October, Gucci revealed its launch of made-to-measure menswear. Burberry also launched an online trench coats customization for men back in November.
