Wall Street Trader Hires Helicopter to Flee Vermont

Wall Street trader Scott Redler was at a weekend wedding in Vermont when Hurricane Irene’s heavy rains flooded the area. To escape back to his home in New Jersey, Redler hired a helicopter and flew himself and his mother back to safety.
Bridges were out in Pittsfield, Vermont, and Wall Street trader Scott Redler had to take matters into his own hands to escape the torrential downpours brought on by Hurricane Irene last weekend.
Redler’s family were weekend wedding guests in Vermont when heavy rains pushed the Tweed River over its banks, creating major flood damage to numerous homes in the area. Redler was with his 65-year-old mother who was reportedly running out of medicine, so Redler, T3Live.com’s chief strategist, found a helicopter pilot and paid $7,000 for a rescue out of Vermont.
Even days after Hurricane Irene hit the Northeast, rescuers and residents continued to battle high water in New York, New Jersey and Vermont. Vermont suffered its worst flooding in 75 years.
Hurricane Irene made landfall in North Carolina where Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said she spoke to Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin and said, “We’ll work with the people of Vermont to get them back on their feet.”
Redler, 38, told Bloomberg, “I wasn’t going to wait for the state or federal government. I can’t trust them, because I know I’m not a priority.” Redler and his mother returned safely back to their homes in New Jersey thanks to Redler’s creative solution.
