Regina Arriola’s Travel Diary: Kate Moss Exhibition At La Galerie de L’Instant in Paris
Kate Moss has been one of the world’s top models for over 20 years, and is responsible for introducing an unconventional image of a model into the fashion industry. This image, although credited for the rise of several debates about “size zero fashion,” has become a movement in today’s world. At just 5 feet and 6 inches tall, she broke stereotypes and barriers, and created a career that others can only dream of. La Galerie de L’Instant in Paris pays homage to the beauty and intelligence of Kate Moss.
The small and intimate venue in Paris has created an exhibition of her work entitled “Kate Moss Par Les Plus Grands Photographes,” which translates literally to “Kate Moss By The Biggest Photographers.” The exhibition showcases various photographs that have never been seen before. Some of the amazing work displayed are by iconic photographers such as Rankin, Mary McCartney, Arthur Elgort, Patrick Demarchelier, Paolo Roversi, and Corinne Day.
Kate Moss was discovered when she was just 14 years old, at New York’s JFK airport. Within a year, she was featured on the cover of the British magazine The Face. From the moment she began her career, it was apparent to those around her that she was a girl who would make a significant contribution to the fashion industry. The magnitude of her impact, however, was truly understated, as today she stands as one of the most iconic figures in fashion history.
Her series of photographs for Calvin Klein catapulted her into the spotlight, and made her one of the most sought after models in the world. She has been featured on the cover of over 300 magazines, and has worked for virtually every major fashion brand from Chanel to Christian Dior. In addition to her modeling career, Kate Moss also took the role of a designer, when she teamed with Top Shop in 2006.
