Haute Spot: CrossBar – Todd English’s New Shrine to Swine Venue

Todd English maintains a fortified repertoire…four-time James Beard Award-winning chef, restaurateur extraordinaire, television host, author, and now preacher. Preacher?

Within the Gothic brick walls of Limelight Marketplace, once home to the infamous Limelight nightclub in New York City, Mr. English has erected yet another place of reverence. His newest adventure in the world of hospitality is an aft chamber named CrossBar where pork is king.

The nose-to-tail swine congregation will meet in a space equipped with a multitude of crosses (one being a table), wrought iron fixtures, reclaimed pews, red drapes, and chunky chairs bearing exposed brass nail heads—you know, the typical— where Mr. English and Executive Chef Robert Rubba promise that no vestiges of the farm animal shall be discarded.

A built-in rotisserie fire pit will slow roast the juicy bits and crisp the unctuous skin of suckling pigs. Creative offerings such as Laphroaig-infused smoked root beer float complement a showy menu featuring items like caviar potato skins, Thai-style pork belly, octopus with squid ink vinaigrette, and ham hocks with smoked chorizo-vinaigrette.

So put your Sunday best on and head down to Crossbar when it opens this Wednesday.  CrossBar at Limelight Marketplace is located at 47 W. 20th Street, New York, NY 10011.  Call for reservations: 212.359.5550
