Save the Date: Nutrition to Take Center Stage at Common Threads Luncheon at 1500˚

This Saturday, May 14, 1500˚ at the Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach Hotel will be buzzing with excitement as celebrity Chefs Michelle Bernstein and Paula DaSilva come together to cater a charity luncheon for Common Threads, a nonprofit organization which serves four Miami elementary schools.

Since its inception in 2003, Common Threads has adopted a mission to “educate children on the importance of nutrition and physical well-being and to foster an appreciation of cultural diversity through cooking.” Over 4,000 low-income students, ages 8-12 years old, and parents across the country are sponsored by Common Threads annually. Those children who participate in the program learn to cook wholesome and affordable meals in the Common Threads kitchens while learning to appreciate the similarities that they share with other cultures.

According to Art Smith, co-founder of Common Threads, “Our world is a large quilt and its people are the fabric—colorful swatches of beautifully woven material—all joined together by these common threads: family and food.”

From 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, guests who attend the luncheon will have the opportunity to learn all about this cause while mixing & mingling with Miami’s finest and feasting on a one-of-a-kind multi-course farm-to-table meal fit for kings. On the menu, guests can expect to find Chef Bernstein’s delicious spring vegetable ragout with tomato butter and poached egg followed by Chef DaSilva’s savory char broiled skirt steak with smoked baby potato salad, brasing greens and chimichurri.

Tickets are priced $100 per person and are available for purchase at www.commonthreads.org.
