Haute Event: Annual Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts Unveiling

Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts is a volunteer organization that rallies each year to raise money for music. This California Corporation is made up of selfless supporters who lend their time and collaborative efforts to create and help shape each year’s showcase house.  Descanso Gardens, a series of new gardens on three and a half acres of the wooded landscape, hoseted this year’s event, held on Friday, April 15.  Designed by David Dalton, the house features Baker products including Kohler exclusive collections from Andre Arbus, Tony Duquette, and Robert Kuo.

“The Showcase house this year is a special house. It’s a 1927 Paul Williams English Tudor with all original untouched detailing,” explained Dalton.  Williams, who also designed home for the iconic likes of Groucho Marx, Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball, and Cary Grant, was inspired by the past and, according to one critic; he was “the last word in elegant traditionalism.”

Dalton, the interior designer, elected a pair of Andre Arbus Avenue Cocktail Tables as part of the center piece for the Living Room as well as the Du Rois Chaise.  From the Tony Duquette Collection, he chose such pieces as the Sunburst Torchiere and the Gold Toad accessory to compliment his design.

The event began with champagne and a tour, followed by cocktails, dinner, and dancing.  It was a beautiful night under the cool spring breeze, a night of Haute Living in Los Angeles to its fullest.  The splendidly transformed English country manor is open from through May 15, 2011. Tickets are priced at $35 in advance and $40 at the door (subject to availability), proceeds will fund cultural enrichment through programs geared towards the study and appreciation of music.
