Calendar Listing New York: Austrian Wine Dinner Series

Austrian chef Kurt Gutenbrunner and famed Austrian winemaker Bertold Salomon will be hosting an evening of food, wine, and art at Café Sabarsky and the Neue Galerie as part of a six-part Austrian Wine Dinner Series in New York City.

WHO: One of the country’s foremost Austrian chefs, Kurt Gutenbrunner and famed Austrian winemaker Bertold Salomon host the evening. Gutenbrunner owns New York restaurants Wallsé, Café Sabarsky, Blaue Gans, and wine bar The Upholstery Store and is the chef at the Beer Garden and The Standard Hotel. Salomon owns a long-established family winery in the Kremstal region near Vienna. He was also the first to import Australian wines into Austria in the mid-1980s.

WHAT: A five-course dinner with wine pairing and a private touring of the current exhibition “From Klimt to Klee: Masterworks of the Serge Sabarsky Collection”. The dinner is part of a six-part Austrian Wine Dinner Series in New York.

The menu will include the following dinner and wine pairings:

~Canapés paired with Salomon Undof. Hochterrassen GV 2008

~Crispy Florida shrimp with pineapple and almonds paired with Salomon Undof, Wieden & Berg GV 2008

~Mountain brook trout with creamed spinach and capers paired with Salomon Undof, Kögl Riesling 2008

~Veal sweetbread ravioli with white truffles paired with Salomon Undof, Von Stein Reserve GV 2008 or Salomon Undof, Pfaffenberg Library Reserve Riesling 1996

~Broken Arrow Ranch venison with Brussels sprouts and Spätzle paired with Salomon Estate, Norwood Shiraz-Cabernet-Merlot 2006 or Salomon Estate, Finniss River Shiraz 2004

~ Pear strudel with quince sorbet paired with Salomon Estate, Alttus 2001

~ Chocolate and Viennese cookies
