The Concept of Home

Anima Domus contemporary Italian home furnishings

It was amore at first sight. If there were such a thing as the Utopia of Furniture, it would certainly be the Anima Domus showroom, South Florida’s No. 1 interior design destination.

At Anima Domus, the most sought-after Italian brand names in the design world all come together under one roof. The showroom is sleek and elegant, boasting simple yet sophisticated pieces in dark woods, blacks, grays, and whites mixed in with pops of colorful reds and olive greens. Their collections span from Jesse, Poltrona Frau, Foscarini, Porada and Fiam to the likes of Alivar, Besana, Clei, Bonaldo, and Meridiani.

The idea for this Utopia was the brainchild of Marconi Naziazeni and his wife Silvia. He had a background in finance and customer service; she was an architect with a love for Italy and Italian design. With this distinct combination of skills and passion, the duo realized there was a desperate need in the design market for a place where consumers could find modern yet still livable Italian furniture. And so they found their niche, creating Anima Domus, now the go-to place for the best selection of contemporary luxury Italian furniture with an unparalleled staff of skilled design professionals.

There’s something inherently magical about fine Italian furniture; its intricate details, sturdy craftsmanship, and rich materials are the epitome of elegance. “Quality and design are synonymous with Italy,” Marconi explains. “For Italian furniture manufacturers, design, lifestyle, and quality are deeply rooted in their cultural background. Most of the companies and collections that we represent are family owned, and quality and design for them is a matter of pride. This is really what makes the difference.”

With this same mentality, the firm has created what Marconi describes as both an “evolutionary and revolutionary” partnership with Jesse Furniture, an upscale Italian brand that produces wardrobes, walk-in closets, beds, sofas, tables, and much more. “From our side, we needed a complete line that would be produced with the best that Italy has to offer. From their side, they needed a strong, local partner that could properly offer their line to consumers in South Florida. It’s a win-win situation from all points of view.” He adds: “I love that Jesse is still a family-owned and operated business. Their values are very much aligned with mine. If we have a situation, I get the phone and talk directly to their CEO, Francesca Jesse.”

Likewise, it is this wholesome, family-like quality the Naziazenis and their staff emit, which makes them so unique to work with. The relationships they have fostered with their clients speak volumes of their success. “The feedback that most clients give us is that they order from us because of our staff,” Marconi explains. “They are surprised by our level of knowledge and how accommodating we are.” The staff includes commercial manager Marko Djokic, sales associate Jonathan Martinez, and project development manager Cristiano Da Silva. “There are many showrooms in the market, but none of them can compete with us head-to-head because of our personnel. We provide a service that goes above and beyond what anyone else can offer… We are very lucky to have a first-class staff that takes care of the clients with the same philosophy I share.”

Marconi constantly communicates with his staff to learn the status of ongoing projects and ensure that the quality remains at the level that everyone has come to expect. “Anytime you do something because you love what you do, and because it comes from a place deep down inside of you, the results are usually something special.”

Their design motto, “The Concept of Home,” has become synonymous with what they do and who they are. “We provide solutions, not only products,” Marconi says. “We provide a platform that allows our clients to express their own identity and lifestyle when planning their spaces.” This interesting blend of furniture retailer and interior design firm is what “allows us to provide a final package that makes a lot of sense to our clientele base,” he says.

Now with two showrooms in the Miami area (5,000 square feet in Aventura and 3,500 square feet in Miami’s Design District), Anima Domus’ comprehensive collections continue to meet the needs, tastes, and expectations of clients, reeling in projects of all sizes located all over the USA and the world, including New York, Colorado, Texas, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil, Aruba, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Panama and Europe. There is no job too big or small for Anima Domus to take on, whether it is a single room or a complete home renovation project. Many clients contact them in their “pre-construction” or “pre-remodeling” phases, allowing the Anima Domus team to have free reign on the entire interior design concept.  Marconi admits, “Even our small projects evolve into full-scale projects.” They also offer project development services, fabric selection, custom wall units and closets, and other related services.

When asked why they have not expanded their showrooms outside of the Miami area, Marconi replies with enthusiasm, “We love Miami! We love the people, professionals, weather, beaches, boats, culture, art, food, and the unique international flavor that this wonderful city offers.” In addition, he added that their decision to stay local is rooted in their basic philosophy about quality in service, delivery, and availability. “Our staff is known for the personal level of attention that we offer our clients and if we spread ourselves too thin, the quality will suffer.”

In the future, the Anima Domus team hopes to continue its trend and specialty of relationship building, to grow their existing relationships with both clientele and with their suppliers. With these relationships, they hope to continue to provide contemporary, elegant, and livable spaces that always reflect “The Concept of Home.”
