Dior Just Opened a Three-Story Boutique in Milan With a Michelin-Starred Restaurant Inside

Via Monte Napoleone has never lacked for ambition, but the House of Dior that opens there on September 18th is something worth stopping for. Conceived by architect Peter Marino within a historic Milanese building, the three-story space is not simply a retail destination — it is a considered articulation of what the house is under Jonathan Anderson, and what it has always been under the spirit of Christian Dior: nature, art, couture, and the particular elegance of doing all of it without effort.

The window displays announce the tone immediately. Entirely crafted from fabric offcuts sourced from Dior’s own ateliers, animated vignettes form garden landscapes — looks by Jonathan Anderson emerging beneath wisteria and lemon trees, alongside an owl, a flamingo, and squirrels finding their way through the scene. From there, the boutique opens into a space organized around a central glass roof, with natural light filtering through the kind of numerous windows that make an interior feel like it is still connected to the city outside. Living walls, garden terraces, and inner courtyards designed by landscape architect Peter Wirtz carry that connection further — gardens were a defining source of inspiration for Christian Dior himself, and Wirtz’s work makes that lineage feel present rather than historical.

The layout moves through the house’s full offer with clarity. Accessories, shoes, leather goods, and men’s ready-to-wear occupy the ground floor. Two majestic staircases lead to the first floor, where Jonathan Anderson’s women’s collections are presented alongside signature bags — including precious editions of the Lady Dior — and high jewelry by Victoire de Castellane. The men’s wardrobe extends from ready-to-wear through made-to-measure tailoring. On the second floor, moldings inspired by Parisian apartments frame private salons and a beauty room, offering the quieter, more personal register that the best luxury boutiques still know how to deliver. La Collection Privée fragrances and decorative objects for the home complete it.

Art moves through the space as a living presence, consistent with Christian Dior’s own background as a gallerist — including a portrait of Monsieur Dior by Michelangelo Pistoletto. Also conceived by Peter Marino, the Monsieur Dior by Enrico Bartolini restaurant offers its own argument for staying longer. Italy’s most Michelin-starred chef — deeply attached to his Tuscan roots and at ease in Milan — presents a menu that draws on Dior’s symbols: the art of layering, the flavors and colors of Italy, gastronomy and couture brought into genuine dialogue. A painting by Francesco Clemente sets the atmosphere.
