Gevorg Shahbazyan: The Visionary Developer Shaping South Florida’s Next Urban Chapter

The trajectory of great developers rarely follows a straight path. More often, it begins with movement, perspective, and a willingness to recognize opportunity in unexpected places. For Gevorg Shahbazyan, founder and CEO of Starlife Group, that perspective began long before he entered the world of real estate development.
Born in Armenia, Shahbazyan spent much of his childhood moving across several countries with his family as they pursued new opportunities. His early years unfolded in Kazakhstan, Georgia, Russia, France, Belgium, and Germany before the family ultimately settled in South Florida. Growing up across cultures shaped his worldview early, giving him a global perspective that continues to influence his approach to business and development today.
After settling in Florida, Shahbazyan attended Hallandale High School before continuing his education at Broward College and later Florida International University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations and political science followed by a master’s degree in global affairs. Initially, he envisioned a career in diplomacy and briefly worked in Washington, D.C. However, he soon realized that a traditional office environment was not where he would thrive, leading him to explore industries where strategy and tangible creation intersect.
Real estate ultimately provided that outlet. In 2015, Shahbazyan began his career as a licensed sales associate, learning the business from the ground up through leasing and brokerage. The early years were spent understanding the fundamentals of the market, but it was through his first townhouse development partnership that he discovered his deeper interest in the development side of the industry. The process of bringing projects from concept to completion revealed a discipline that combined design, finance, and long-term strategic thinking.

In 2018, at just 24 years old, Shahbazyan founded Starlife Group, establishing what would become a vertically integrated real estate platform. The company now encompasses multiple divisions including development, construction, lending, capital ventures, and international realty, allowing projects to move more efficiently from planning through completion while maintaining consistent oversight and quality.
Today, Starlife Group operates across residential, mixed-use, hospitality, and commercial developments throughout South Florida and international markets. The firm’s development pipeline currently exceeds 1,600 residential units and more than 3 million square feet of active and planned projects, positioning it as a rising force within the region’s competitive real estate landscape.
Among the company’s most notable projects is 21 Hollywood, a landmark mixed-use residential tower contributing to the evolution of the city’s urban core. Under Shahbazyan’s leadership, the project reached a significant milestone when it broke ground and topped off in just seven months, an impressive pace within today’s complex construction and entitlement environment. The project has also generated more than 1,500 jobs across construction and permanent roles, highlighting its broader economic impact.
Recognition has followed the company’s growth. Starlife Group has received multiple industry accolades, including being named among the Top 100 Real Estate Development Companies in the World by Luxury Lifestyle Awards. The firm has also earned distinctions from the RED Awards Florida, including Mixed-Use Development Project of the Year and Young Developer of the Year, along with the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Spirit of Joseph Young Award recognizing leadership and civic contribution.

Central to Shahbazyan’s leadership philosophy is a forward-looking approach to development that integrates lifestyle, hospitality, and wellness considerations while maintaining disciplined underwriting and long-term value creation. His projects reflect an understanding that successful development today requires more than architecture alone; it requires thoughtful environments designed for how people live, work, and connect.

Gevorg Shahbazyan’s commitment to growth extends beyond the projects he develops and into how he continues to refine his leadership at the highest level. He is currently enrolled in the Advanced Management Development Program (AMDP) at Harvard Business School, a comprehensive, multi-phase executive education program that began in July 2025 and is expected to conclude in July 2026, designed for senior leaders navigating complex organizations with a focus on strategic decision-making, leadership development, and long-term value creation.

In addition, he is part of Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management (OPM) program, a prestigious, multi-year initiative tailored for entrepreneurs and business owners, with an upcoming session scheduled for May 10–29 and additional sessions planned in January 2027 and 2028. The program emphasizes global perspective, leadership evolution, and the scaling of privately held companies through immersive, cohort-based learning, further reinforcing his commitment to continuous growth and disciplined, forward-thinking leadership.
At 32 years old, Shahbazyan represents a new generation of developers shaping the next phase of urban growth. As Starlife Group continues to expand its portfolio, the company’s focus remains on creating thoughtfully designed developments while contributing to the long-term evolution of the communities they serve.
