From the moment you find out you are pregnant to becoming a new mom, you are instantly inundated with information. In fact, there is so much information that it becomes incredibly overwhelming. Once you sift through all the product recommendations, tips, and tricks, a few brands stand out as some of the best in the industry. Case in point: Bugaboo.

If you’re like me and in the market for a stroller, let me confirm (so you can stop doom-scrolling) that Bugaboo is definitely one of the most luxurious strollers on the market. The concept of luxury or the term luxurious takes on a different role when it comes to baby products — luxury is not just how chic or elevated the materials are, it is about the comfort and functionality of the product, because efficiency in motherhood is a luxury.

Enter the Bugaboo Kangaroo Bassinet and Seat Stroller in Desert Taupe with a black chassis—a sleek, versatile, and eco-conscious option that promised to make outings with one or two kids a breeze. After weeks of testing it on city sidewalks and sandy beaches, this single-to-double stroller lives up to the hype.

Upon opening, the Bugaboo Kangaroo impressed me with its chic Desert Taupe fabrics and sun canopy. The color is warm yet neutral, blending effortlessly into urban and outdoor settings without screaming “baby gear.” The black chassis feels solid, and the 100% vegetarian leather handlebar grips add a touch of luxury. At 28.6 lbs with the seat and 29.9 lbs with the bassinet, it’s not the lightest stroller, but it feels reassuringly sturdy, built to last for years, potentially for generations.

The assembly is straightforward, with pre-assembled components, such as the chassis, wheels, and seat/bassinet frame, snapping together intuitively.

Perhaps the most impressive feature of the Kangaroo is the single mode with the bassinet for newborns—before it transitions to from single to double. The bassinet is spacious, with breezy panels for ventilation and a PureBreeze™ mattress featuring antibacterial technology—a godsend for keeping things fresh during spit-up season. The dual-sided fabric (summer and winter modes) was a thoughtful touch, keeping the baby cool on warm days and cozy when the breeze picked up. The UPF 50+ sun canopy, featuring a peek-a-boo panel, allows you to check in on your newborn without disturbing them, and its height-adjustable design ensures ample coverage that grows with the baby.

In terms of actually using the stroller,  the 8.5-inch front wheels and 12-inch rear wheels, paired with a suspension system, glided over cracked sidewalks and gravel paths with ease. The extra-large underseat basket, with an 18.4-gallon capacity and 28.6-lb weight limit, allows room for plenty of storage, and accessing it is simple, even with the bassinet attached.

You can easily add the sibling seat, which supports up to 40 lbs compared to the main seat’s 50 lbs, and install it in the upper position with the bassinet below. The process is quick—remove socket covers, insert adapters, and click the seat into place. The main seat, when used, stayed in the upper position, but the flexibility to mix and match configurations (bassinet and seat, two seats, or even a car seat with an upper newborn adapter) is a game-changer for a growing family.

Finally, Bugaboo’s commitment to sustainability was a big draw for me. The Kangaroo uses bio-based materials, reducing its CO2 footprint by 16% compared to fossil-based alternatives. The fabrics, made of 100% polyester with polyurethane foam filling, are machine-washable at 86°F, and the underseat basket and grips wiped clean with a damp cloth, keeping maintenance low-effort.

The stroller’s modular design also supports repairs, and Bugaboo’s B Corp certification reassures that it’s made under fair conditions in their Xiamen factory. There is a certain luxury in knowing that you are investing in a product designed to last, and that is what you get with the Bugaboo Kangaroo Bassinet and Seat Stroller.
