The Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme: Quiet Luxury At Its Finest

When it comes to Parisian anything, less is always more. Glamour doesn’t need to shout: it should always quietly whisper. And be it fashion, cuisine, or luxury hotels, the same rule applies — which is why, to me, the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme defines glamour in the City of Light.

Its entrance is unobtrusively located on Rue de la Paix. Meaning: there are no glittery signs or Instagram worthy signage. It only matters that you know that it is there, in this perfectly ideal location, minutes away from Place Vendôme’s world-famous jewellers, The Louvre, the Opera House, and Place de la Concorde.

Inside, there is an air of intimacy and quiet luxury, as well as a knowing that you’re in good hands (and not just because the 24-hour concierge are Clefs d’Or). It could be, quite possibly, because there are just 45 suites, inclusive of three signature suites, with unique in-suite spa concepts. The Ed Tuttle-designed spaces embody Paris itself via its accents: large bathrooms with separate bathtubs, walk-in closets, under-floor heating, and separate water closets, as well as Blaise Mautin welcome amenities.

The property’s pièce de résistance is L’Appartement. It’s the ultimate Parisian pied-à-terre, but in a hotel, with a discreet entrance that makes it the perfect place to stay in the central yet calm area of the prestigious 2nd arrondissement.

The 1, 938 square foot space has been entirely designed by Tuttle as well with mahogany panels, Paris stone, medal bronze, gilded pilasters, wall stains, mirrors, green onyx and elaborate sconces. Under a titanic ceiling height of almost 2000 square feet, it provides an open-plan kitchen, a gym, a living room, and two bathrooms  (with the ability to add a third bedroom). Essentially, it’s a fully equipped home tastefully furnished with custom furniture and appliances. It features a stylish kitchen full of pantry essentials and a comfortable living and dining area with a true Parisian feel. Services upon request include customized grocery delivery, chauffeur service or car rental, a private chef, in-room massages and treatments, personal coaching, personal shopping, salon services, and babysitting or a nanny.

But there’s more to love here, too, including several hospitality concepts. There is La Terrasse for cocktails, Café Jeanne for breakfast or a light dinner, and PUR’ – Jean-François Rouquette. Clearly I have saved the best for last. With a Michelin star and four Gault & Millau toques, the recently-designed eatery blends the designs of artist-architect Hugo Toro with the culinary brilliance chef Jean-François Rouquette. What’s on offer is a heady tasting menu that makes all senses fire. Like everything else at this hotel, the service is quiet perfection. The meal is artfully arranged and decadent, but beautiful, with ever-changing items that could include scallop crudo with coriander, bergamot, and Hass avocado; white truffles from Alba served with a yellow beetroot ravioli, marrowbone, and clear beef chuck consommé, and oven-cooked turbot scented with grains of paradise and cockles.

Another exceptional experience for winter includes Chalet du Park by Jean-François Rouquette in what is, in the colder months, a dedicated chalet-style space with cheese by the wheel. It has a charming, Bavarian vibe, and with fare meticulously curated by chef Rouquette for both lunch and dinner, you know you can’t go wrong.

The property also features a variety of beauty services. The Spa, in all of its gilded cornice, limestone, and rich mahogany glory, can’t be missed. There are four treatment rooms, La Mer products galore, and a fitness center on site. Additional beauty services include an exclusive hair suite courtesy of stylist John Nollet.
