NYFW: Jeremy Scott Debuts Tabloid Inspired Fall 2019 Collection

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Jeremy Scott brings back the paper boy, with his tabloid inspired fall 2019 collection. In collaboration with artist Aleksandra Mir who created hand-drawn blown up renderings of tabloid covers from the New York Post and New York Daily News, Scott transformed striking headlines into clothing that expressed the hyper overload of breaking news that inundates our daily life.

Models paraded the runway in soft and fluid vinyl, blazing headlines; all fashioned into trenches and full-skirted dresses, superimposing words upon words to create new meaning. As for style, fitted bustiers gave way to multi-layered featherweight tulle skirts, while distressed denim and leather were adorned with verbiage. Scott even managed to mask something as delicate as Swarovski crystal mesh with bold graphics.

Celebrities lined the front row sporting their own daring looks including Cardi B’s sister Hennessy Carolina, who rocked a white, orange and black mesh mini skirt with a matching jacket. Coco Rocha also turned heads in her orange and purple patterned ensemble, complete with two bright pink scrunchies, while Rich The Kid opted for a graphic T-shirt, shearling coat and gold pants.

In his new line, Scott paints the seesawing economy of today in leather, sews the catastrophes of yesterday in chiffon, tomorrows scandals in sequins and silk, all the while maintaining an aggressive edge to express the wonder and horror of our times.
