It’s been made clear that Gucci’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele knows how to delight and excite, further emphasized by his Fall/Winter 2019 collection show during Milan Fashion Week. The looks pulled from Michele’s liking for androgynous-themed aesthetics, while a whole slew of masks—one more inventive and creative than the next—really served as the most unique and aptly chosen addition to most of the runway looks. The masks were varied, some boasting aggressive spikes, some plain, some pull-on plastic styles and some in the form of makeup and jewelry to conceal models’ identities. Additionally, in true Gucci form, a wide range of prints, colors, textures and materials were used, for a real mix-and-match appeal. As always, Michele brought out a slew of A-listers in the audience, including Francois-Henri Pinault and his wife, Salma Hayek Pinault; Andrew Garfield; Saoirse Ronan and Jared Leto.
