Starting September 6th, the 16th-floor terrace of NYLO New York City hotel on the Upper West Side will transform into a secret beach right in the middle of the city. The hidden outdoor terrace with sweeping views of the Upper West Side, has been transformed into a secluded, oceanic retreat as part of the hotel’s Arthouse @ NYLO ongoing art and culture programming. Sip on summer throughout the season with custom cocktails featuring sand, waves, and served from ships in a bottle.
The summer-centric cocktail menu created by Jeremy Fowler, Director of Beverage at NYLO New York City, features signature cocktails imbuing the same creative spirit that shot the hotel’s Willy Wonka-inspired ‘cocktail factory’ to local stardom.

The Rum Traitor is made with Rum, Szechuan Peppercorn, Pineapple and Gold Leaf and served on a treasure map in two wooden barrels. Guests will receive a “ration” big enough for two including a treasure trove of edible gold coins. The Finding Nori is served over sea rocks, topped with grapefruit sea foam, sprinkled with nori and poured table-side out of a ship in a bottle. Guests hanging onto the last dregs of summer can enjoy the Basic Beach, a cocktail comprising Navy Strength Gin, Blue Curacao, lemon tonic and coconut sparkling water. The cocktail is served resting in edible cookie sand with a candy beach ball and a shovel to dig for chocolate sea shells.
The limited seating for 30 guests creates a relaxing and intimate environment for guests seeking to extend their summer. The design will focus on sustainable and reusable materials with blue-lit fiber optic lights cascading down from various levels of the rooftops above, overlapping to emulate waves collapsing onto a beach and the layout of the space designed for relaxation as one would do during the golden days of summer.
The pop-up will be open to guests and locals every Wednesday through Saturday from 5pm-10pm starting September 6th and ending on October 27th.
