Andaz 5th Avenue Debuts Interactive Kaleidoscope Art Installation & New Culinary Experience

Midtown Manhattan’s iconic Andaz 5th Avenue hotel just announced the debut of its summer lobby art installation: an interactive kaleidoscope that will reflect a rainbow of colored light fragments through multi-surface mirrors out onto 5^th Avenue.

The hotel’s new mesmerizing kaleidoscope, created by New York City’s Wild Flag Studios, will be lit from within Andaz 5^th Avenue and project dazzling patterns symbolic of New York City in vibrant hues toward The New York Public Library, surely to spark the attention of locals, travelers and hotel guests.

“Andaz 5^th Avenue has a long-standing tradition of celebrating local designers, artisans and innovators – and our new installation will align with our commitment to bring the spirit of Manhattan into the hotel,” says General Manager Scott Mason. “Art remains a significant part of our Andaz 5^th Avenue story, and this colorful installation will celebrate the culture of New York City and creates a surprising interactive experience for guests and locals alike.”

The installation will focus on the viewer’s personal experience and interaction with the art piece as the colors and shapes of the kaleidoscope will continually change throughout the day, with the ever-changing sunlight.

The installation will invite guests on a journey downstairs to local favorite The Bar Downstairs, which now is home to the hotel’s new daytime dining experience, TBD Downstairs.

The new dining experience at TBD Downstairs includes daily breakfast from 6:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., lunch from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., and weekend brunch service Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. For dinner service, starting at 5:00 p.m. nightly, the chic Midtown East venue will continue to operate as The Bar Downstairs, featuring its creative menu of shareable Latin-style dishes, fine wines and beer, small-batch liquors, and handcrafted cocktails in a socially engaging yet relaxed environment.
