When the weather finally gets warm here in Boston, everyone flocks to outdoor patios for some alfresco dining. After all, it’s the best way to soak up every sun-filled summer moment.
We told you last week where to go for summer dining, but this week, we have rounded up the best spots where your dog can tag along, too. From hotel restaurants rolling out the red carpet for pets to haute spots welcoming four-legged friends to their outdoor patios, here’s a look at five of the best dog friendly patios in the city.
Gaslight Brasserie

If a glass of rosé and a dozen fresh oysters to enjoy on the patio sound as divine to you as they do to us, head over Gaslight’s South End haute spot. This bustling patio scene is the place to see and be seen during the warmer months. Perhaps you might want to sneak a bite of steak tartare to your furry friend or enjoy a simple nicoise salad on your own in the sun.

Bistro du Midi

Across from the Public Garden, Bistro du Midi has arguably the prettiest tables where you can take in a beautiful view with your four-legged friend lounging in the cool shade. French fare with a New England twist is the name of the game here. We recommend enjoying the Grand Plateau, an enormous sampling of 12 oysters, eight clams, six shrimp cocktail, a pound of Chatham mussels, salmon poke and chef’s crudo. Patio dining never tasted so good.

Bar Boulud

Not only do they welcome dogs at Bark (pun intended) Boulud’s outdoor patio at the Mandarin Oriental in Back Bay, which is designed mostly for humans, but they even have a specialty canine cafe menu designed for your best friend. Order up an oatmeal-carrot biscuit or watermelon pupsicle for your furry companion while you sip on a chilled glass of pinot grigio. This Copley Square haute spot fills up quickly, so be sure to arrive early to ensure one of the coveted patio tables.

Legal Harborside
Over in the Seaport District, if you are in the mood for a waterfront view with your furry friend, check out Legal Harborside‘s first floor and request a seat near the rope where your pet can relax as the boats sail by. Order up a cup of creamy clam chowder and try a clambake or baked stuffed lobster to kick off the summer right. After your visit, be sure to take your dog for a stroll along the nearby Harborwalk.

The servers at Trade seem to know just how much everyone loves their four-legged pets, so it’s no wonder why this Seaport patio has become so popular in recent years. While your dog is enjoying some cold water in the shade, we recommend trying the tuna poke bowl or short rib grilled cheese sandwich filled with gooey smoked gouda. After lunch, take your favorite four-legged companion for a stroll along the Rose Kennedy Greenway to walk off those calories.
