Paulina Porizkova totally knows how to be awesome. The Czech-born Swedish model can be credited as one of the very first supermodels, and, in fact, became the first woman from Central Europe to cover the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. She was also the second woman (after Christie Brinkley) to be featured on the issue’s cover consecutive times (in 1984 and 1985). She has been married to the same man—The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek (who will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame next month)—for almost 30 years; has written a book; acted; and appeared on TV programs like Dancing With the Stars. She is also a strong, tough woman who has had pieces on her feminist sensibilities published in the likes of The New York Times and Huffington Post. 1. Be honest, truth is always best
2. Don’t ever stop being curious. (Otherwise you might as well be dead).
3. Don’t completely love yourself, you have bad bits, work on them.
4. Read novels. They build empathy.
5. Don’t refuse to learn new things because they scare you. Overcoming fear is one of life’s biggest accomplishments.
6. Believe in the super power of people on the autism spectrum. Different is good.
7. Remember, on your deathbed, you’ll only regret things you didn’t do, so do it all.
