Haute Weekend Roundup in Boston: Where You Should Have Been Eating

From restaurant openings to a celebration of National Chicken Wing Day, here’s a look back at the weekend’s hautest food happenings in Boston.

Cambridge’s Kendall Square has become home to the first Hunanese concept in greater Boston thanks to this weekend’s opening of Sumiao Hunan Kitchen. The woman owned business brought to us by Sumiao Chen, who studied at Le Cordon Bleu and is also a scientist from Xiangtan, Hunan, China. Menu highlights include a section dedicated to Gai Fan, a popular lunch selection that combines proteins and vegetables over a bed of rice as well as dishes like Grandma’s Pork with pork belly, green cayenne pepper and garlic leaves and Silver Fish served crispy with green and red chili. Be sure to keep an eye out for the five-course prix fixe dinner menu that can be customized to your preferences.

If you love Greek fare, you are in for a fast treat. Gre.Co now has a custom mobile app so you can order everything even quicker at their Back Bay location from hand-cut potatoes dressed with feta to their signature gyros filled with lamb or a traditional Greek salad topped with chicken.

On Saturday, better known as “National Chicken Wing Day,” Darryl’s Corner Bar & Kitchen celebrated by offering four different styles of wings, including country fried classic, Carolina gold (shown here), peach chili and honey buffalo.

PAGU is now open for Saturday brunch. Pair up a Spanish mimosa with some short ribs and eggs for two or chicken and waffalato with mushroom gravy with a glass of white sangria.

Earls Kitchen + Bar announced they will open their second Massachusetts location (66th internationally) within The Shops at the Prudential Center in Back Bay in September. Keep an eye out for dishes like bibimbap, jeera chicken curry, sushi and south-of-the-border specialties being served from the scratch kitchen. Did we also mention there will be a rooftop lounge complete with fire pits?
