Quick Hits: The Hautest Party of The Year at the Museum of Fine Arts

If you don’t have your tickets yet, consider this your formal invitation to one of Boston’s hautest parties of the year that is happening this Saturday at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

The MFA’s annual Summer Party is being held here from 9 p.m. to midnight where attendees have the opportunity to check out a private viewing of the exhibition “Matisse in the Studio,” and enjoy a night of dancing, specialty cocktails, a full bar, dessert table, and late-night bites, all with a south of France chic vibe this year.

This event brings together some of Boston’s most stylish philanthropists for a night of art, dancing, and celebrating, while raising support for the Museum’s exhibitions, community programs, and conservation initiatives.

“The Summer Party is our annual black-tie fundraising gala and the only black-tie event held at the MFA,” said Erika Gorman, one of the Summer Party co-chairs. “This year, we are expecting about 900 attendees and are hosting a pre-party event for VIPs with a full dinner, live auction of luxury goods and experiences and a live performance upstairs in the Koch Gallery. Then we will go downstairs to the main event, which is being held in the Shapiro Family Courtyard where guests will be arriving around 9 p.m. We have recreated the space to have a French Riviera feel, so guests can wander through the galleries, sip on some specialty cocktails, enjoy music from DJ Rich DiMare and there is a dance floor where they can dance the night away. It’s going to be a great night.”

“We are also holding a silent auction where a large percentage of the items is art selected by the host committee of the party,” Gorman said. “It is designed to raise money for the Museum’s operating fund and exposes people to the Museum of Fine Arts. We have a lot of first time attendees of the event who have never been to the Museum before and are blown away by the elegance of the night. It’s a really special opportunity to dance your heart out in a museum that is closed to the public for the night. There is nothing quite like it.”
