Haute Top 5: The Must-Try Sandwiches of LA in 2017

The Godmother tops our list because it is, in our opinion, a Los Angeles rite of passage. Everyone who enters Santa Monica MUST try this masterpiece. Bay Cities' signature sandwich is made with prosciutto, ham, capi cola, mortadella, Genoa salami and provolone cheese. For optimal eating, order the works, with mild or hot peppers.

This fried chicken sandwich from LA's hottest culinary team, Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo, consistently tops best of lists in LA, and ours is no exception. Why? The chicken is fried to perfection as are its accoutrements—a spicy bread and butter pickle slaw, Sriracha aioli and a vinegar-heavy coleslaw.

Michael Voltaggio's Frenchy—turkey, brie, fruit chutney, argula and mayo—is the perfect blend of sweet and savory. Hot or cold, it hits the spot, but we'd expect nothing less from this "Top Chef" winner.

You'll love the juicy, succulent and saucy sloppy Joe at Century City's Clementine—a rich confection of ground beef topped with shredded cheddar cheese on a soft bun.

You'll feel like you're back in New York again with this amazing pastrami sandwich, served, as you might expect, with mustard on rye located in downtown L.A. It's reuben (shown here dripping with corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and dressing on rye) also can't be missed.
