Whether you’re planning a festive feast at home or just looking for your next signature cocktail, Liquid Lab NYC’s* co-founders Parker Boase and Gregory Lucas have come up with great new cocktail ideas to help make your holiday weekend a jolly one. Reporter Jennifer Hedley got the scoop from this innovative mixology duo–and the recipes, which use seasonal and autumnal ingredients. (Remember, don’t drink and drive. Appoint a designated driver to get you home safely.)
JACK O LANTERN FLIP
2.0 oz. rum
1.0 oz. pumpkin spice syrup
0.5 oz. fresh lemon juice
1.0 oz. pineapple
1 egg white (optional*)
*Dry shake the egg white with no ice in your shaker until it begins to froth and then set aside.
Shake all ingredients (including the egg white if you are using) until consistency is frothy and shaker is cold to the touch; strain over fresh ice. Garnish with a dusting of nutmeg and orange rind.
FALL HARVEST MANHATTAN
2.0 oz. rye whiskey
0.5 oz. sweet vermouth
0.5 oz. Grade A maple syrup
Dash of cinnamon
2 dashes of Angostura Bitters
Stir until shaker is cold to the touch and strain into martini glass/coup. Garnish with orange and cinnamon stick.
PUMPKIN TODDY
2.0 oz. bourbon
1 tbsp. of butter
0.5 oz. fresh lemon juice
1.0 oz. pumpkin spice syrup
2.0 oz. boiling water
Add ingredients to mug, stir with cinnamon stick and garnish with lemon wheel.
PECAN AND PRALINE HURRICANE
Place in a blender:
2 scoops of praline and cream ice cream or gelato
2.5 oz. vodka
0.5 oz. Orgeat syrup
Dash of “maple” bitters
Fill with ice and blend until consistency is creamy. Pour into Hurricane or Collins glass. Garnish with rosemary and ground pecans.
TRIPLE CRANBERRY PUNCH
1.5 oz. gin
0.75 oz. organic cranberry juice
0.75 oz. white cranberry
0.75 oz. pomegranate/cranberry juice
0.5 oz. Cointreau
Shake all ingredients and strain into martini/coup glass. Garnish with cranberries and orange twist.
