Dubbed ‘the Oscars of sports’ the grand ESPY Awards have turned into a star-studded event. Beyond your biggest sports stars, Justin Timberlake, Ciara, Usher and Joe Biden showed up to show their support for the awards this year.

The ESPY Awards 2016 also gave sport stars a platform to speak out on numerous important issues. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul opened the ESPYs this year with a powerful presentation regarding the #BLACKLIVESMATTER movement. Their words highlighted the recent death of two African-Americans at the hands of law enforcement, the attack in Dallas that left five police officers dead, and the greater racial issues that affect US citizens every day.
