Dior is keeping contemporary with a haute new artist collaboration. The fashion powerhouse has decided to partner up with British artist Marc Quinn on a limited-edition accessory line.

To celebrate the House of Dior opening on London’s Bond Street, the brand chose the contemporary artist to design a special collection. Quinn’s main focus was a reinterpretation of Dior’s world-famous ‘Lady Dior’ bags. In true Quinn fashion, you can expect the same orchids he has become so widely recognized for to adorn his version of Lady Dior. The same orchids you may have seen enlarged in his bronze sculptures, and in his multicolored paintings.

As a whole Quinn has created 10 pieces for Dior comprised of five different sized Lady Dior bags, pouches, cardholders and a Croisière clutch. All of which you can expect to have his tasteful touch.

‘I always like making functional art objects,’ the artist told The Telegraph, as he returned from the Frieze Art Fair in New York. ‘I was originally asked to make just one bag, but once I started messing around it quickly turned into a whole series. It’s nice to make something that’s more of a cohesive collection.’

The store’s opening, along with the artist collaboration, indicates an especially British moment for the brand. House of Dior is the brand’s largest UK store to date. The Medium Lady Dior bag in calfskin painted with signature Marc Quinn orchid will cost you approximately £4,200.
