Robert De Niro does it all. Not only is has he starred in over 100 films, he is also a successful hotelier and restauranteur, amongst other things of course. Aside from being the Co-founder of Nobu (no big deal), De Niro is most noted in the hospitality realm for The Greenwich Hotel. The paparazzi prohibited five-star hotel has become a testament to De Niro’s ability to capture the most refined tastes. It comes as no surprise that De Niro would take his success across continents for his next hotel project in London.

In collaboration with BD Hotels and Capital & Counties Properties PLC, the three power players have set their sights on taking over the Wellington Hotel in the city’s Covent Garden district. Similar to De Niro’s Greenwich Hotel that has 88 rooms, the luxury London property boasts 83. In true De Niro style, you can expect world-class amenities including a spa, two restaurants, a café, and a central courtyard.

“The Wellington Hotel would honor the heritage of the area, while bringing the best of what we’ve done in New York to London,” De Niro said in a statement.

“It makes perfect sense to develop a hotel that represents all of that in the heart of this city in Covent Garden.”

The new boutique experience will only be enhanced by its Covent Garden neighbors. The Wellington Hotel will be surrounded by high-end restaurants and shops including Chanel, Dior, Balthazar and Ivy Market Grill.

The Wellington Hotel project currently awaits approval by the Westminster City Council but if everything goes according to plan, construction on the hotel will begin next year and will be completed in 2019. Until then, we’ll just have to imagine!
