Haute Spots Boston: Hotel Commonwealth

Red Sox season is right around the corner and so is the Hotel Commonwealth. Located just steps from Fenway Park, it is the official hotel of the Boston Red Sox. The haute spot recently unveiled a new wing featuring 96 additional guest rooms, an outdoor terrace and Fenway Park Suite that overlooks the beloved baseball park.

Admittedly, there is nothing quite like booking a staycation in your own city where you can act as a tourist getting to better know areas of Boston. We recently escaped here for the night to a gorgeous king size bedroom on the fifth floor of the new wing. Our room featured a custom upholstered headboard, luxe Italian linens, plush down comforters and luxurious pillows. The spacious bathrooms have a walk-in glass shower filled with Malin & Goetz bathroom amenities.

In the warmer months, be sure to check out the 1,400 square foot outdoor terrace that can accommodate up to 200 guests and overlooks Fenway Park. The Fenway Park Suite is the best room in the hotel offering two rooms, including a painting of the scoreboard vs. the Yankees, of course. This sweet suite also features beloved Red Sox collectibles like the #6 from the Green Monster scoreboard originally given to Johnny Pesky when he retired.Hotel Commonwealth RoomPhoto Credit: Hotel Commonwealth

As for restaurants, you can choose among Island Creek Oyster Bar, Eastern Standard and The Hawthorne. We recommend the brunch at Eastern Standard that includes everything from  a hearty plate of scrambled eggs with toast and home fries, a savory quiche with caramelized onions and rich cinnamon French toast with Nutella and strawberry jam. It doesn’t get much sweeter than this.
