Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress Claire Danes picked up yet another award last night as her Showtime series, Homeland, picked up the Favorite Premium Cable TV Show trophy at Wednesday night’s People’s Choice Awards. Given that the 36-year-old star is a frequent winner, she had to look the part. Here’s how to get her award-worthy PCA look.

First: start with a stellar Burberry dress

Then, it’s all about hair, hair, hair. Says stylist Steven Butler, “I loved Claire’s look tonight! Since she was wearing a Burberry Prorsum sleeveless sparkly black dress that is soft and feminine, we drew inspiration from the contrasting texture of the dress through her new haircut, a sleek and iron straight bob.

To begin I blew out her hair with a large paddle brush then used my tail comb to set in a low side part. I proceeded to take vertical sections of hair around the head and worked each section with the Joico Iron Clad Thermal Protectant Spray, which is a great non-sticky, lightweight heat protectant, before running my flat iron through the hair. After the hair was flat ironed, I sprayed a bit of Joico Hair Shake liquid-to-powder finishing texturizer since it’s the perfect wet powder to apply on fly always when sprayed on your hands. The texture that the spray provides added to the movement of the sleek bob.I finished with a final spray of the Joico Flip Turn volumizing finishing spray to ensure the bob’s structure would be held and to protect against any humidity that would come from transitioning from the rainy L.A. weather to the red carpet. Claire was modern and fantastic and the whole team LOVED this look!

How to get Claire’s hair at home:

Step 1: I blew out her hair with a large paddle brush, then used my tail comb to set in a low side part. Continue to proceed by taking vertical sections of the hair around the head working each section with Joico’s Iron Clad Thermal Protectant Spray before running the flat iron on over the hair. I like this product because its non-sticky, lightweight but will still protect your hair from heat.

Step 2: After the hair was flat ironed, I sprayed a bit of Joico Hair Shake a liquid-to-powder finishing texturizer, I used it to tame the fly aways. Then I continued to spray all over the hair to add movement to the sleek bob.

Step 3: I finished with a final spray of Joico Flip Turn volumizing finishing spray to ensure the bob’s structure would be held and protected against any humidity that would come from transitioning from the rainy LA weather to the red carpet.
