Haute 100: Why Are Congratulations in Order for Tory Burch?

The holiday season can easily be renamed engagement season, and this theory stands true when it comes to fashion designer Tory Burch. The mother-of-three took to Instagram to announce her upcoming nuptials to LVMH CEO Pierre-Yves Roussel.

In 2013, Roussel, who oversees luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Celine, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Kenzo, Nicholas Kirkwood, among others, was spotted front row at Burch’s New York Fashion Week show. His presence prompted speculation that LVMH was planning to invest in her brand.

Since the ending of Burch’s five-year-long relationship to music executive Lyor Cohen, Burch was romantically linked to a number of prospects like fellow Haute 100 lister Eric Schmit as well as Lance Armstrong. However, in 2014 Page Six revealed via a source Roussel and Burch are an item.
The French native joined LVMH in 2004 as Executive Vice President, Strategy and Operations. In 2006, he was named Chairman and CEO of the Fashion Group, which includes numerous prestigious brands (Céline, Givenchy, Kenzo, Loewe, Marc Jacobs, Pucci, Nicholas Kirkwood, JW. Anderson, Donna Karan…). He is also a member of the LVMH Executive Committee.

Most recently, the American fashion designer, businesswoman, and philanthropist went digital. Burch is reorganizing her business to put more emphasis on digital initiatives and investing in customer-facing technology, according to Biz Journal.

Not only is Burch focusing funds on technology, but also new businesses such as Tory Sport. She has plans to open a permanent freestanding Tory Sport store in the Flatiron District of Manhattan in March. The fashion designer has also introduced new product categories including fragrances and watches, which are licensed to The Estee Lauder Cos. and Fossil, respectively. Burch currently It currently is operating a Tory Sport pop-up store at 257 Elizabeth St.

The 49-year-old has also launched a new fellowship aimed at female entrepreneurs. The program, which Burch announced on “CBS This Morning,” will run through the Tory Burch Foundation, which has granted $10 million for projects since 2010.
