See Wearable-Art Handbags from Yara Bashoor

Lux-ladies listen up! Take those boring logo emblazoned handbags and send them to the storage unit. It’s time for an individual approach to your look. The fledgling brand, Yara Bashoor is teaming up contemporary artists to create one-of-a-kind portable works of art—you can’t get more original than that. The artists conceptualize their ideas on the alligator skins to create all types of handbags, whether its artist Domingo Zapata who painted art on a satchel he calls “Kiss Me”  or John Armleder who added a simple triple-tag to a shoulder bag with the motto, ” now you are a handbag”. He ironically calls the bag, “Eraser Alligator” which addresses the use of alligator as a material in the project.

The first grouping launched at the recent, Art Basel Miami with a Sotheby’s sponsored event and auction at the private residence of Dr. Arthur Diskin on Palm Island in MIami Beach. The renowned artists were all in attendance at the happening— Mariella Agois, John Armleder, Bill Claps, David Noonan, and Domingo Zapata. The first round of bags were auctioned at the kick off event in Art Basel which benefiting Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida and four other charities.

Yara Bashoor studied architecture at the University of Miami School of Architecture and then went into law. She’s decided to get back to her design roots with the launch of this project. She is meticulous about the details of the final product with excellent craftsmanship and design. Every bag is one-of-a-kind and limited edition
