Haute Happenings This Week in Boston 11/30/15

There is no better way to get in the holiday season than with a Christmas tree lighting, a Holiday Pops performance and a Christmas tree auction. Here’s a look at this week’s hautest happenings in Boston.

Tonight, Mayor Marty Walsh, The Boston Parks Department and the Friends of Copley Square are hosting its annual Copley Square Tree lighting. The event starts at 5 p.m. and will feature live entertainment from members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s Brass Ensemble and contestant on NBC’s The Voice, Brittany Butler. The Boston Public Library and The Catered Affair will kick off the event at 3 p.m. with a Storytime and Candy Cane Tea at The Fairmont Copley Plaza.

On Wednesday, men can head over to SalonCapri on Newbury Street for their Men’s Night On the Rocks event series. From 5 to 7 p.m., men can enjoy a professionally styled haircut, drinks from Bully Boy Distillers and products from the grooming line Baxter of California.

The holidays officially arrive here in Boston on Wednesday as the Holiday Pops get started with their annual performance at Symphony Hall. Conductor Keith Lockhart celebrates his 20th anniversary with the orchestra this year. The Holiday Pops have musical performances scheduled for the entire month of December with a grand finale on New Year’s Eve featuring the Boston Pops Swing Orchestra with bandleader Bo Winiker.

On December 2, Eddie Doyle & The Spirited Bostonians will host the 6th annual “Rattlin’ Around the Christmas Tree” fundraiser at Poe’s Kitchen at the Rattlesnake, benefiting the Globe Santa Fund. This holiday soiree will kick off festivities with jazz sounds by The Rollo Tomasi Quartet, entertainment by local comedian, Jimmy Tingle, and a special memorial tribute for famed Boston artist, Sidewalk Sam.

The Mandarin Oriental, Boston is offering a “Popping Holiday” package starting December 2 through December 30 that includes car service to and from Symphony Hall in a Mercedes S Class sedan, two tickets to the Holiday Pops and an overnight stay at the hotel complete with a bottle of champagne paired with Pastry Chef Robert Differ’s seasonal selection of delectable homemade cheesecake lollipops.

On Thursday, don’t miss the fourth annual Christmas in the City Celebrity Holiday Tree Auction and Toy Drive Kick-Off being held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Seaport Hotel. The event will benefit Christmas in the City, which helps provide nearly 18,000 kids in need with toys this holiday season. The evening will feature snacks and cocktails along with an auction of Christmas trees lit and decorated by the Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins with items available from each team.
