New York City is probably one of—if not—the most stressful cities to live in. With sky-high housing costs and New Yorkers logging more hours at work than any other city, no wonder it has been dubbed the “city that never sleeps.” Who can sleep with a slew of work woes hovering over you? So where does one go to play hooky from work and alleviate stress? At the Aire Ancient Baths spa of course.

Nestled in Tribeca, Aire Ancient Baths spa is housed in a 16,000 square foot building located on Franklin Street. The only location in the states, and one of five spas, each Aire is house in a unique building full of history and personality.

Prior to its grand debut in 2012, 88 Franklin Street was once a textile factory. Stripped down to reveal its original beauty, the interior features exposed brick walls wood-beam ceilings, and cast-iron columns. The dimly lit rooms transports you to the opulent relaxations style of the ancient Rome and Greece that dates back to 500 BC.

Aire Ancient Baths offers a number of decadent services for the ultimate relaxation. The Spanish-based company, with its European-style, boasts a number of thermal bath, aromatherapy and relaxing massages. The lush experience includes access to the baths at different temperatures: ice pool (46ºF), cold pool (61ºF), warm pool (97ºF), hot pool (102ºF), as well as the Steam Room with aromatherapy, Propeller-Jet Bath (97ºF), and salt-water pool (flotarium). If that is not enough, spa-goers are also encouraged to use the Relaxation area to rest on heated marble seating and indulge in a cup of tea. It doesn’t stop there; depending on your selection you will also receive massage that can range anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes.

Another plush service is the Red Wine Ritual. This experience includes a 30-minute wine bath in a private thermal tub. You soak in a concentrate of tempranillo grapes from the Matarromera winery in Spain. Following your bath, lay still for your 90-minute four-handed body massage that includes a Toning Grape Seed body exfoliant—the combination of Verdejo Grape Seeds, Brown sugar and grape oil. A Grape Seed Detox-Relax body wrap—a special antioxidant treatment using red grape seed, aloe vera and ginseng—concludes the experience. The red wine ritual is said to recover the ideal level of hydration as well as eliminate impurities and dead cells from the skin and leave it nourished, hydrated, luminous and soft

Other additional services include aire exfoliant experience, kerala, cava, and olive oil rituals.

Prices range anywhere from $75, which will get you a simple thermal bath and aromatherapy and access to the Relaxation area to $550, which will get you the Red Wine Ritual.
