Paris may be the city of lights, but Dubai is the city of gold. Which is why it should come as no surprise that they are the proud owners of the world’s largest gold chain. The Dubai Celebration Chain measures at a total of 5.522 km and is hand-made with 22-carat gold. 4 million links connect this chain with a total weight of 564 pounds. It was created for the 20th anniversary of the Dubai Shopping Festival and was no easy feat. It was hand-made by over 100 craftsmen and took around 45 days to complete. It is now on view to the public where people can admire Dubai’s audacious nature to create all things bigger and better.

Yachts

Of the ten largest yachts in the word, three reside in Dubai and the other seven frequent their marinas often. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai owns the largest yacht in the city spanning 162 meters long and estimated at over $300 million. He even named the yacht ‘Dubai.’ It contains multiple spas, pools, a helicopter pad, squash room and many other larger than life luxuries. Other mega-yachts topping the list are the lavish 147 meter yacht ‘Topaz’ and 141 meter long ‘Yas,’ both also proud residents of Dubai’s pristine waters.

Cars

In a city where the police have McLaren’s, you know there has got to be some outrageously large and exotic rides. From the Cadillac Escalade to the Toyota Land Cruiser these popular SUVs heavily populate the Dubai streets. They love their cars so much here that they even decided to break the world record for the largest luxury car parade, which of course was lead by a Lamborghini police car. Maybe its because the roads are bigger, or maybe people want to feel higher than everyone else, either way Dubai is definitely tops the list for largest cars in the world.

Malls

Dubai’s malls are famous for being grand and luxurious. Three of their malls are amongst the Top 50 largest malls in the world. They may not have the #1 slot, but what is inside their malls makes them larger than life. The worlds largest indoor ski slope can be found in Mall of the Emirates, the world’s largest mall aquarium can be found in Dubai Mall and trust us the list goes on and on. To top it off Dubai has an even larger mall in the works with plans to steal that coveted title of the world’s largest mall.

Buildings

Perhaps the most recognized of Dubai’s ‘biggest’ feats is the completion of the tallest building in the world. The Burj Khalifa stretches 829.8 meters high and is the centerpiece of Dubai’s growing skyline. The 160-storey building is also the owner of many other record-breaking titles. It is the world’s tallest freestanding structure, has the longest elevator travel distance, the highest occupied floor and many others. If you didn’t believe it before, you better believe Dubai does it bigger now.

Fountain Shows

Located at Dubai’s largest mall and under the world’s tallest building is the world’s largest dancing fountain. The Dubai Fountain is set on a 30-acre man-made lake and includes fountains the shoot water 150 m. high, equivalent to that of a 50-storey building. The fountain itself is 275 m and will have 22,000 gallons of airborne water at any given time. The light production of this show is what truly sets it over the top. It not only uses the most 6,600 of the most advanced incandescent fountain lights available today, the beams are so strong they can be seen from over 20 miles away. The show creates a staggering 1.5 million lumens of projected light. It is just the kind of over the top thing that makes Dubai the city we know and love.

Airports

Dubai has become an international hub for transit and travel. Dubai International Airport now has topped London Heathrow as the world’s busiest airport. Not only is it the busiest but it is also the 5th largest with plans to expand and add to its size. Dubai’s airline is also as impressive as the airport. Emirates Airline was voted among the world’s safest airlines in 2015. They are also routinely acknowledged for the luxurious quality of the airlines planes and service. With the combination of their bustling airport and world-class airline they continue to bring in travelers from around the world to view all of the extravagance Dubai has to offer.

There are many examples that lend to Dubai’s status of being the biggest and best. This one definitely takes the cake. Dubai is infamous for being the city that holds the most world records. Some of these include the largest firework display, the longest graffiti scroll, the tallest hotel and of course tallest building. In total the UAE hold nearly 150 world records, mostly in Dubai where there are no plans to quite while they are ahead. There is no better way to prove that Dubai does it bigger than everyone else.
