La Serre Hosts ‘The House’ During Ramadan
This Ramadan, La Serre Boulangerie has launched a special pop up initiative called ‘The House.’ Local art collective, ‘The Animation Chamber’ has been given the restaurant as a blank canvas in which to create a unique pop-up art experience for the duration of the Holy Month.
Guests dining throughout the month can enjoy an amalgamation of art and food, seated within the unique installation. The pop-up will see walls stripped bare of all existing art and The Animation Chamber’s hand-drawn illustrations will be painted directly onto the walls, taking La Serre from restaurant to Renaissance-inspired mansion-esque art space, complete with interactive elements and hidden, quirky details. Emanating from diverse backgrounds, the artists of ‘The Animation Chamber’ regularly collaborate to produce animations, pixilation projects and light paintings. They worked through the night in the days leading up to Ramadan to create the pop up at La Serre.
The new format sees tables reconfigured for a more communal dining experience where friends are encouraged to share and engage – and the restaurant as a whole will exude an inclusive, sociable ambience. In addition, a French twist on traditional Ramadan sweets and pastries will be on sale in the Boulangerie throughout the month including pistachio meringues and date cookies.
‘The House’ at La Serre will run from 18 June – 17 July (in line with official Ramadan dates). La Serre Bistro and Boulangerie will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout Ramadan. Tel: +971 44286969
