Haute NYC Update: Marc Jacobs Partners With Disney for Final Marc by Marc Collection

Marc Jacobs

Our hearts broke earlier this year when Marc Jacobs announced he will be discontinuing his contemporary line Marc by Marc Jacobs.

He said to Women’s Wear Daily, “It just feels like we aren’t doing that job by showing two different collections with two different messages.”

Before we bid our final farewell to a line that has been in our lives for nearly 15 years, Jacobs will team up with Walt Disney Co. to create a collection inspired by the adventure-fantasy film “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” whish is slated to hit theatres May 2016. The resort 2016 collection named “I Am Not Like Other Girls,” will feature sunglasses, totes, backpacks, phone cases, jewelry, watches, sweatshirts and more. The whimsical collection will include items loosely based on the iconic “Alice in Wonderland” story, such as bow-shapes, snickering pansy flowers and heart-shaped keys.

The Disney partnership will extend into the Marc by Marc Jacobs’ farewell holiday window displays at select stores. Items will be available for purchase starting Nov. 1. Prices will range from $60 to $400.

Additionally, Marc by Marc Jacobs will be absorbed into the main line Marc Jacobs. Price points will be separated by contemporary and luxury. Luxury department stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s will continue to stock Marc Jacobs’ contemporary items.

One thing is for sure; once the collection is available there will be a fashion frenzy where the collection is sold. Ladies, set your iCalendar alerts and be ready to snag the last of the Marc by Marc Jacobs line before it’s too late.
