The Palms honored rock star chef Kerry Simon with a celebration for his 60th birthday at the chef’s namesake restaurant, Simon Restaurant & Lounge at Palms Place. Throughout the evening, guests greeted Simon with warm birthday wishes and enjoyed passed hors d’oeuvres including the restaurant’s famous wok charred edamame, mac and cheese tarts, Iron Chef sliders and signature cotton candy. Additionally, Simon was presented with a custom birthday cake made by Gimme Some Sugar that combined elements of his “Rock ‘n’ Roll Chef” title and his Iron Chef win.

Guests in attendance were encouraged to show their support for Simon and his fight against Multiple System Atrophy through donations to Keep Memory Alive, the local nonprofit dedicated to increasing awareness and raising funds for the research, management and treatment of brain disorders like MSA. To commemorate the occasion, Simon’s friends and colleagues gathered to sign the glass walls in the restaurant, which were wrapped with the Fight MSA logo, filling the room with kind sentiments.

Since opening in 2008, Simon Restaurant & Lounge has become known for its whimsical menu including an assortment of delicious sushi, the playful junk food platter and the wildly popular Sunday pajama brunch. Diners have the opportunity to experience the brunch one last time this Sunday May 17. As a final send off to the restaurant, party guests celebrated throughout the evening with the rock star chef before the flagship restaurant officially closes its doors May 22.
