The New Art Exhibit You Need To See at the Surrey Hotel

As part of a V.I.P. partnering, luxury hotel The Surrey has teamed up with Blair Voltz Clarke and ArtMuse to debut a new art exhibit titled “Revealed: Faces of Our Time.” The exhibit will feature 10 iconic portraits by American painter Mark Boomershine.

The individuals featured in the art exhibit define culture today, by not only capturing the glamour and beauty of each subject, but also the enigmatic attraction that defines them. From supermodel Cara Delevigne, to Oscar nominated actor Eddie Redmayne, to pop singer and New York City’s ambassador Taylor Swift and the iconic star of classic ballet Wendy Whelan, the series will reflect both the fame of each subjects and the enduring fascination of the public.

Boomershine, who is an Atlanta native, has an extensive portfolio with artwork seen in Harper’s Bazzar, Town & Country, The Atlantan, Saks Fifth Avenue and much more.

“The idea for the show was born out of a conversation with The Surrey hotel about creating a small installation for the hotel. Part of their permanent collection on view in the hotel lobby is a tapestry portrait of Kate Moss by Chuck Close,” said Lisa Rosenberg, Public Relations Director for ArtMuse.

Award-winning independent art historian Natasha Schlesinger, founder and director of ArtMuse, tapped private art dealer and expert Voltz Clarke to work with one of her artists.

Schlesinger explained, “We came up with a perfect counterpart to what is already at The Surrey and that is the emerging artist Mark Boomershine who had done portraits of iconic figures of the past like Twiggy and more contemporary ones like Cara Delevigne.”

Schlesinger revealed she was particularly struck by the Delevigne portrait and thought it was a perfect opportunity to explore the notion of celebrity face through ten portraits at The Surrey. ArtMuse later met with the luxury boutique hotel, which is located on the Upper East Side, and came up with the idea to debut the art presentation during Frieze Art Fair 2015.

You don’t have to pay an entry fee to view the exhibit. The paintings are for sale.

Viewing will commence May 14th and will run until June 5th. The Surrey invites both guests and those who would like to visit its famous restaurant and bar of Daniel Bouloud to view the exhibit.
