Frida Giannini Leaves Gucci Early and Abruptly

Frida Giannini, creative director of Gucci, has left the house four weeks ahead of schedule.
“I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding contribution that Frida Giannini has made to Gucci’s legacy during her nine-year tenure as creative director,” Marco Bizzarri, president and chief executive officer of Gucci said in a statement Monday.
Giannini was scheduled to stay with the company though February, which is when the luxe label is slated to show it’s Fall 2015 collection in Milan.
No word on who will take over for Giannini yet, although word on the street is that Alessandro Michele, currently Gucci’s head accessories designer, is in line for the promotion. Other names linked to the post are Kering employee Joseph Altuzarra, and Riccardo Tisci, the creative director at rival LVMH-backed luxury brand Givenchy.
