Designer, Vince Camuto, 78, died last night at his home in Greenwich Connecticut surrounded by his wife and five children. The fashion fixture died at his home in Greenwich, Conn., on Wednesday after a fight with cancer.
Camuto founded Nine West in 1978 along with Jerome Fisher. The footwear company was and continues to be an amazing success, even after it was sold for $900 million in 1999.
Vince went on to launch the Camuto Group in 2001, which has since grown into a multibillion-dollar empire, consisted of brands – some that bore the designer’s name – across a number of categories, and concept stores. Other brands under the Vince Camuto umbrella are, VC Signature, Louise et Cie, (named after his wife) and the junior line, Jessica Simpson. Vice Camuto is also responsible for producing Tory Burch’s Reva flat, which helped propel the name to its current global success.
An outpouring of love and appreciation can be seen in the twitter-sphere where celebs and fans are remembering him and his family on this sad day for fashion.
