The consensus among VIPs invited to attend Omega‘s soiree celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing was overwhelming: the party was out of this world.

Guests were shuttled to the event, held at the iconic John Lautner-designed Sheats-Goldstein residence in Beverly Crest and strolled over a “moon walk” plank—a wooden carpet meant to resemble the moon’s surface—as they entered the event.

Attendees were treated to a truly celestial evening at the intimate, two-hour soiree, as they sipped champagne and custom, space-named cocktails, gazed at the stars through Celestron telescopes and even viewed an actual moon rock, on special loan from NASA.

The evening also commemorated the history of the original, and now iconic, Omega Speedmaster Professional “Moonwatch,” which Dr. Buzz Aldrin wore on his spacesuit when he was the Lunar Module pilot on Apollo 11 on July 20, 1969. To commemorate the occasion, Omega also launched its Speedmaster Professional Apollo 11 45th Anniversary Limited Edition wristwatch.

Conveniently, Colonel Aldrin also happened to be the guest of honor at the glamorous fete. Additional attendees included new MOCA director Philippe Vergne, Breaking Bad’s writer/producer Vince Gilligan, actor Grey Damon and Perry Reeves of Entourage, as well as Omega’s Vice President and Head of Product Development, Jean-Claude Monachon.

Proceeds from the event went toward the MAK Center for Art and Architecture.
